What we record
Rekap's Windows app records your games for the post-game review. This page says when it records, what it records, what stays on your PC and what may leave it.
When the app records
Only your Solo/Duo, Flex and Draft games. The app reads the game's queue from the League of Legends client: other modes (ARAM, Arena, custom games…) are never recorded.
Recording starts with the game and stops when it ends. Between games, the app waits without capturing anything.
How
The app uses only official interfaces: the Live Client Data API the game opens on your PC, the League client's API, and Windows screen capture (Desktop Duplication), like video recording software.
It injects nothing into the game, does not read its memory, shows nothing during the game and gives no in-game advice. The review happens after the game.
What is recorded on your PC
These files contain the Riot IDs of the ten players, as the game screen does.
- the video of your screen during the game, without sound;
- the game data, once per second: game time, your gold, health and resource, and for all ten players champion, level, K/D/A, CS and items, with events (kills, objectives);
- the review computed from this data, and the minimap analysis.
What leaves your PC today
Nothing from your recordings: videos, game data and analyses stay on your computer.
Your account, exercises and practice leaderboard follow the privacy policy.
What may leave it later
An upload is planned to improve the models. You will agree once, at sign-up, with no question after each game. A permanent setting turns it off, and you will be able to see and delete everything that was sent.
Only these may leave, cropped on your PC before sending:
- the minimap;
- the player frames on the side of the screen;
- the top counters (score, towers, clock);
- the scoreboard, with the name column blacked out;
- your HUD (spells, cooldowns, gold);
- the game data second by second, each player replaced by a code (P1 to P10).
What never leaves your PC
- the full-screen video, which can show other windows or notifications;
- sound;
- players' Riot IDs and names;
- your replay files (.rofl).
The code
The recorder's code and the exact list of what may be sent (the data contract) are public: https://github.com/CEXJOC/rekap-recorder.
Stopping
You can stop the recorder at any time from the app's Live Game tab, or quit the app from its icon next to the Windows clock.
